Day 5

This is another day which we had to wake up early. I had to drag myself out of bed for another new start of a day. I and my roommate rushed to have a quick spread and Milo before heading out. Everyone was punctual and met up at the lobby. However, we had to wait for the last person Chee. A student-in charge brought us to a place near the canteen to board a mini-bus for our trip to the Hubei Province Museum. All the girls were already in the bus when we reached. Over at the museum entrance, we had to pass through a security scan before being allowed to enter the museum. I guess Aqilah was pretty upset at her DSLR camera being dropped by the security personnel. We were led into the museum by a museum representative and we were slowly introduced to things that we learned from the lecture yesterday. Well, honestly speaking, I do not enjoy museum trips. The only museum which I enjoyed was the Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum. So I was basically half-dead while the representative was explaining things. Everyone was taking pictures so I followed suit. After about one and a half hour, we were treated to a concert performance in which the locals performed creating music using drums, bells and qipao. It was quite entertaining and I recorded the whole performance down into my camera. Next, we left the museum and boarded our bus while took us to a tour around the river. It was a great scenery however, the walking and concentration that we had in the museum took a huge toll on us. Everyone, one by one fell asleep soon after, including me. I had no idea what happen next as when I woke up, the bus was already at the university entrance. The bus then dropped off some guys to the hostel first and took the rest to the same spot where we board the bus. We discussed what we wanted to do next and everyone had his/her own destination so we split up. I joined a group Peter, Chau Liang, Ram, Chee, Yi Ren, Dr Zhu and two students in charge who led us around the museum. We decided to try out a SiChuan restaurant nearby. We ordered about six dishes. It was tasty. The lunch was treated by Dr Zhu and we all thanked him thereafter. One of the students in charge had to leave so it leaves us with the other student in charge who brought us to our hostel via a short-cut. Upon reaching back, Ram fell asleep immediately and snored away. I too, also fell asleep after about one hour of using my laptop. I and Ram were sleeping soundly when Chau Liang and Peter came banging on our door, dazed and scratching our tousled hair. We were told that there was internet access. It was true indeed, however, the happiness was short-lived as the hotel behind our hostel switched their wireless connection off at about 7.15pm. So we left for the city at about 8pm and met up with four girls. We headed to a nearby arcade and played various games. It was quite cheap compared to an arcade in Singapore as the rate is 1SGD for one token while it is 0.50RMB for 1 token. It was 10.30pm by the time we left the arcade. One thing that I found surprising was that Wuhan’s nightlife was not interesting as almost all shops have closed already. Some of us have not even eaten our dinner, so we had no choice but to opt for KFC. I feel that it is almost the same pricing as Singapore just that it is slightly cheaper by a dollar or two. Well, I ate this dinner with a heavy heart. I keep worrying if there is enough money for the rest of the six weeks.
